Avian Influenza - Bird Flu FAQ
As more and more cases of bird flu are reported, the world faces an immediate threat of a deadly pandemic. Pandemics (Global Disease Outbreaks) are known to be like flash floods. They start abruptly, spread fast and cause a lot of damage all over the world.
Influenza- causes, symptoms and treatment
Influenza is commonly known as flu, it is an infectious disease of birds that can cause by RNA viruses. It is a contagious respiratory illness that is caused by influenza virus. Actually it is a viral infection that affects throat, nose, bronchi and in some cases it also affects lungs.
Natural Prevention & Treatment For The Flu: What Your Doctor May Not Know
Flu can affect 10 to 30 percent of the U.S.
H5N1 Virus Replikin Gene Counts Indicate a New More Virulent Influenza Cycle Has Begun
Replikins Ltd. has found that H5N1 virus replikin peak gene counts in 2007 in Hong Kong, Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Israel indicate that a new replikin cycle has begun. The mean replikin count exceeded the maximum of the previous cycle identified by the company. Although several conditions are required to produce a pandemic, the increase in replikin count, a feature of each of the last three pandemics, is now in the range of the increase seen in the 1918 H1N1 pandemic.
Tamiflu for Flu Prevention and Treatment
Tamiflu flu medicine is the first choice of doctors. It is approved for prevention and treatment of influenza in adults as well as in children aged 1 year and older.

Anadis' Milk-Based Anti-Influenza (Flu) Virus Antibodies to Provide Immediate Immunity
Anadis Limited (ASX:ANX; OTC: ANDIY), today announced major progress in its anti-flu virus antibody program. The milk- derived anti-flu virus antibodies are all-natural and will provide immediate-acting immune enhancement once deposited topically on mucosal surfaces that come in contact with the influenza virus. Results from human trials are anticipated within 18 months. Addressing both seasonal and avian influenza (bird flu) virus strains, Anadis plans to introduce products using these antibodies (Flubodies) into the market within 2-3 years. This decision follows several successful animal trials with mice, conducted by Anadis and an internationally-recognized influenza research group at the University of Melbourne led by Professor Lorena B...
Influenza Antibody Spray Success: Opens New Approach to Respiratory Disease Control
Anadis Limited (ASX: ANX), a research driven biopharmaceutical company focused on polyclonal antibodies to address human disease, announced today important progress concerning its accelerated program to develop a nasal antibody spray to provide immediate post-exposure prophylaxis against a range of influenza viruses.
NWHRC Launches New Online Tool Kit to Help Parents Fight Influenza this Season Tool Kit Highlights Three Simple Flu-Fighting Steps: Vaccination, Anti
With cold and flu season already affecting many areas of the United States, the not-for-profit National Women's Health Resource Center (http://www.healthywomen.org) (NWHRC) announced the launch of its Flu-Fighting Tool Kit for Parents, which provides comprehensive information and tips on how to curb the spread of flu. The tool kit (http://www.healthywomen.org/flufighting/) highlights three flu prevention and treatment steps: Vaccination ("flu shot"), antiviral medication, good hygiene.
Facts about Influenza Flu Medications
Influenza, also known as flu is an infectious disease that spreads through upper airways and lungs in mammals. Common symptoms of influenza found are fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness, and fatigue.
Amantadine to Prevent Influenza
Amantadine is a synthetic anti-viral drug. Amantadine is useful in the treatment of parkinson's syndrome. It is useful as an adjunct in patients who do not tolerate optimal doses of levodopa alone.
Bird Flu and Flu Pandemic -- How to Reduce the Risk of Infections
Infection prevention more important than ever, says world experts -- but research shows many fall short in practicing good hygiene in daily lives. NO-GERMS™ Portable Hand Sanitizer has been proven effective against bird flu (Avian Flu H5N1 Virus) on the hands, in independent tests at Retroscreen Virology, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of London.

Treat Cold, Flu, and Ear Infection the Natural Way
With or without medication, the cold or the flu can give you real trouble. You can choose from a variety of medications that can give you some relief in symptoms or you can take the natural approach that may prevent, speed your recovery and help you to feel better along the way. When is coming to children a cold or flu or other upper respiratory infection can also ends in an ear infection - acute otitis media - that appear in the space behind the eardrum, that is called the middle ear. This is very common in children younger than age 8, as their immature ear can be easily infected. Their Eustachian tube (the tube that connects the throat and the middle ear) is shorter, softer and more horizontal which is more easily blocked by secretions than those of older children or adults. Also, very exposed could be infants because of their sucking habit. Always keep a breast or bottle feeding baby under an angle to prevent entering the liquid into theirs immature ear. During a cold, throat infection, allergy or other upper respiratory infection, the Eustachian tube swells and prevents air from entering the middle ear, leading to allowing the secretions to enter to the middle ear and be trapped there. This leads to viruses and bacteria to grow and cause infection. Using salt therapy you can prevent or reduce the symptoms in cold, flu or ear infection. If your baby has a stuffy nose and has difficulty breast- or bottle feeding or seems to be short of breath, the Salin device is the best. Using Salin during the night, while sleeps, your baby won't wake you up because of the stuffy nose. He or she will be able to breathe normally, the inhaled saline will open the airways, will clean secretions and kill bacteria, reducing the duration of cold or flu and preventing an ear infection. In the range of 0.1-2.5 microns - the same size as the most damaging micro particles from auto and industrial pollution, and invisible to the human eye -- the micro particles of salt penetrate into every corner of the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli and deposit upon the surface, cleaning secretions, killing microbes and bacteria, leading in turn to a reduction in inflammation. Acting as a mucokinetic, they restore the normal transport of mucus and unclog blockages in the bronchi and bronchioles and upper respiratory tract. The inhaled saline (NaCl) is hydrophilic, so it absorbs the edema from the mucosa lining the airway passages. In the bronchial tree: Absorption of the inflammatory edema from the mucosa lining the bronchial tree, causing asthma, will be diminished, leading to widening of the airway passages. Also, it humidifies and fluidizes the bronchial secretions in the bronchial tree leading to the relief of the broncho- spasm assisting and improving the treatment of asthma.
In the nose and para-nasal sinuses, edema of the nasal mucosa, causing nasal obstruction, will be diminished, leading to widening of the airway passage in the nose and the tubes of the sinuses and improves the sinuses drainage. In the auditory tube: Edema of the Eustachian tube mucosa, causing obstruction and otitis media, will be diminished, leading to widening of the airway passages, better drainage of the inflammatory secretions & better aeration behind the tympanic membrane (drum). The hygiene of the respiratory tract has a very important place in treating an preventing a respiratory infection or ear infection. Here are some tips: 1. Use Salin device and Salt Pipe to clean all the respiratory tract. 2. Correctly blow your nose often - don't blow your nose hardly as the pressure can carry secretions back into your ear passages. Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently the other. 3. Clean your nose with saline solution: mix 1.25 g salt in 1 cup warm water (body temperature) or you can also add in half-half quantities salt and baking soda. Put few drops in every nostril. 4. Place an extra pillow under your head creating an angle. The best way is to place it under the mattress to create a smooth slope. This will help with nasal congestion and also prevent ear infection.
